Local Philanthropy

Jessica June Children's Cancer Foundation (JJCCF)

The Jessica June Children's Cancer Foundation (JJCCF) is a local nonprofit organization located in Fort Lauderdale, FL. It was founded in 2004 when the founder, Sandra Muvdi, lost her only child, Jessica June Eiler Muvdi, to cancer. While recovering from her loss, Muvdi noticed that there were many families and children who were also battling childhood cancer and socioeconomic problems at the same time. Muvdi decided to create JJCCF in memory of her daughter and dedicated the organization to helping children and families battling childhood cancer, especially low income families who are have socioeconomic issues and cannot afford the treatment and hospital bills. To help these families and children, JJCCF provides a variety of services, which includes emergency financial assistance, emotional and supportive care services, and raising awareness about childhood cancers. Today, JJCCF serves families throughout South Florida, including Broward, Miami, West Palm Beach, and Pinellas countries. In October 2021, the ∆EM Alpha Xi Chapter raised money by selling Halloween-themed goodie bags to support the JJCCF and their endeavors. Each goodie bag contained candies, stickers, a stamp, and a glowstick to fit with the Halloween season, and members of the Chapter encouraged visitors and students of NSU to help the Chapter's initiative to support the JJCCF. The ∆EM Alpha Xi Chapter is honored to support a local nonprofit organization that helps our South Florida community and exemplify support, philanthropy, and love.

Past Chapter Philanthropies

Ronald McDonald House Charities

Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida (RMHC) provide homes for families with children who are being treated for critical conditions, such as cancer or heart conditions. ∆EM found the opportunity to participate in RMHC's Adopt a Room program by fundraising to sponsor a room for the families that stay there. Adopting a room provides families with 2 double-size beds, a full bathroom, and storage for clothing, access to laundry services, television, play areas, a fully-stocked kitchen to enjoy family meals, and access to email and internet to remain in touch with loved ones. Each room sponsorship is $5,000 for three years, payable in full or in yearly payments. RMHC recognizes this gift by honoring donors with showcasing a plaque outside of the room throughout the duration of the sponsorship. Other opportunities for involvement with RMHC include the Adopt a Meal program or volunteering within a house.  Ultimately, ∆EM is blessed with the opportunity to support an organization that prioritizes stewardship, diversity, and philanthropy, as the main focus is on strengthening families and their children.
